Lifestyle Graphics: Gateway Plaza Leopold Redevelopment

Brief

The project brief required the expansion of the existing shopping centre, the provision of a new outdoor dining precinct, a review of patron access ways into the site, and the introduction of a contemporary aesthetic language to shape a revitalised new identity for the Centre. The design of the centre has delivered improved community orientation and connections, creating a ‘main street’ style internal mall, a new alfresco eating area and casual dining precinct, and anew village square with direct connectivity to surrounding parklands. The project in the Bellarine Peninsula includes a double height family style tavern, articulated by an iconic, dynamic geometric form which marks the entry of the centre. The design reflects the centre’s coastal context, with highlight glazing shaping an environment of ambient natural light throughout the mall, and collaborations with local artists informing the design of loading bay screening and sculptural landscaping in the village square.
